Handing Down of Attapeu Flood

A picture book with poems to commemorate the memories of the Attapeu Flood in 2018 was written and delivered by the ALC to the Sanamxay County in March 2022. On the first day, delivery of the book was organized at the Sanamxay Secondary School, joined by the education bureau staff of province and county, as well as the students and teachers at the school. The original drawings in the picture book, drawn in 2020, were showcased, and the poems were read by the author and the students, and concluded with students singing a folk song called Lam.


As the Attapeu area is prone to flooding by typhoons and heavy rain, the ALC prepared a disaster prevention map for Sanamxay Secondary School, to improve the readiness of future disasters.



The ALC visited other three more secondary and elementary schools in the following days. We believe that the education and firsthand stories of the flood will significantly help prepare the people in Attapeu for future disasters.
